Hello!
I am James Mayer, running for Mayor of Hudson.
Do you choose to live in Hudson because you want:
- Growing traffic congestion?
- Parking problems?
- Rising Crime?
- Escalating property taxes?
- Negative impacts on downtown business?
- Greater demands on police?
- Costly traffic control fixes?
- Rising water and sewage costs?
- Commercial development invading residential and rural areas?
- Disappearing small town, rural atmosphere?
- Controversy over financing and explaining the need for a new school to meet growing enrollment?
In door-to-door and other conversations, phone calls, mail,
and citizen appearances at city meetings, I continually see
how much Hudson citizens care about their community, but also
how surprised and concerned they are about these things happening
to our city. That's why, if elected as your Mayor, I will
work, as I did when I was District 4 Alderperson for the City
of Hudson -
To make our local government more transparent, accessible, and accountable to the citizens of Hudson.
Priorities
One glaring example of how our city government did not adequately account for the real social and financial costs and needed services and infrastructure in
our community before proceeding with the unchecked expansion of our city is in law enforcement and public safety. For two years I pushed hard for the city to finally
achieve two new police officer positions that barely brought us up to the standard for cities of our size in 2004. That is one reason why the Hudson Professional Police
Officers Association endorsed me as a candidate.
I believe we should encourage beneficial growth, and –
we should choose growth carefully.
Before allowing any further expansion or rezoning in the City of Hudson, we need to require that all the short and long-term impacts and costs of each proposal are identified, and that each proposal is clearly shown to be of net benefit to the people of Hudson.
To make this happen, we need to make a change now. We urgently need to change the government processes that allowed the unchecked expansion of Hudson far beyond our official Comprehensive Plan.
If you agree, your help and support are needed now. The election is coming up fast! You can join in the effort by calling or emailing to help with the campaign by hosting neighborhood meetings, sign placement, letter writing, etc, or by making a financial contribution. This is a grassroots effort; any kind of contribution will help. To make a financial contribution, click here.
I look forward to hearing your ideas and concerns as I campaign for Mayer for Mayor
