The first words of Chapter 11 of the Wisconsin statutes regarding political
campaigns are –
| "The legislature finds and declares that our democratic system of government can be maintained only if the electorate is informed." |
That principle and my belief that "Grassroots democracy is a two way street between home and City Hall" are key motivators and guidelines of my foremost goals:
- Shed more light on the many ways local government is so powerfully affecting our lives right now.
- Find ways, including meetings, to keep people informed about the issues, plans, and decisions that come before city government, and to exchange ideas and viewpoints.
- Welcome citizen input into local government to help shape its role in the future life of our community.
That's why, if elected as your Mayor, I will continue what I fought for on the City Council –
| To make our local government more transparent, accessible, and accountable to the citizens of Hudson. |
As Mayor, I'll continue to work with the council, committees, boards, commissions, and all of you to accomplish what I began as an Alderperson:
Make the workings of our local government clearer and more accountable to Hudson Citizens.
Carefully monitor and plan for the financial, physical, and social impact of growth on:
- water, sewer, and traffic
- health and safety of our environment
- crime, fire, and medical emergency services
- surrounding countryside and farmland
- education and schools
- small independent businesses at the center of Hudson's community and economy
- our small town community
- raising children
Require that all past, present, and future objectives, costs, and benefits of planned growth are fully and clearly accounted for to Hudson citizens before taking another step of expansion.
Protect and preserve the environment, history, and character of Hudson to pass on to our children and great grandchildren. |
